Therapy for young people and the whole family
Hi there, and welcome to my website where I hope you will find all the information you need. Please feel free to contact me with any question or query (no question is a silly question in therapy!) via the contact/enquiry button below and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
My background in helping people is quite varied:
I have over 8 years experience working with children and young people suffering with trauma- related issues which has had an impact on their mental health. I am also a Theraplay informed Practitioner which I can implement into my therapy sessions when appropriate.
My background in helping people is quite varied:

- I am a COSCA registered Therapist and I am working towards my accreditation.

I can offer a unique service to families, couples, individuals and children and young people on a one to one basis or as a family unit. As a flexible and integrated therapist, I would tailor interventions based on your needs and goals for therapy. We would use the foundations of the CBT approach within our sessions and anything we decided to do would be decided together.
The CBT Approach: Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave.
It's most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but can be useful for other mental and physical health problems.
The CBT model works on the premise that your thoughts affect the way that you feel emotionally and this in turn affects how you behave.
You are the expert in your life and I, as your therapist, would provide a safe, consistent and welcoming environment for you to understand what the problems are and we would work together to improve your life. With adults I would be happy to have a free thirty minute consultation either over the phone or in person at my office to discuss what the problems were and how I could help.
I hope this information has been useful to you and I hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks, Kirsty Giles
