Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for children and young people

CBT 12 sessions weekly (can be extended)
£40 per hour

I have extensive experience working with children and young people aged  4+ who are struggling with emotional or social problems.

I have four years of training and expertise in the area of Domestic Abuse with families and I find that counselling sessions with a CBT framework is extremely useful for helping children, young people and families to understand and explore the dynamics of the abuse and how it has affected their relationships.

In addition to this, I could incorporate Theraplay into my counselling sessions where appropriate. These would be one to one with myself and the child or young person to begin with and then we would invite the parent/carer to become involved in sessions.

Theraplay Informed Practice:

Theraplay is a child and family therapy for building and enhancing attachment, self-esteem, trust in others, and joyful engagement. It is based on the natural patterns of playful, healthy interaction between parent and child and is personal, physical, and fun. Theraplay interactions focus on four essential qualities found in parent-child relationships: Structure, Engagement, Nurture, and Challenge. Theraplay sessions create an active, emotional connection between the child and parent or caregiver, resulting in a changed view of the self as worthy and lovable and of relationships as positive and rewarding.

One to one Integrative Therapy and CBT Counselling

1 hour sessions weekly/fortnightly
£40 per hour

As an integrative Therapist, after the initial consultation we would begin sessions using a CBT framework but with a Person-centred core (also known as "client-centred" counselling). As the expert about yourself, we will tailor the interventions to your specific needs.

We will have goals for our time together but the most important aspect of the therapy is our communication and the therapeutic alliance between us. I will also set homework after each session which will enable you to reflect on the work we do within the sessions, throughout the week.

We will continually monitor progress and any difficult emotions that surface within our time together will be explored and we will look at how these are impacting on your life now.

Family and Group work

Family/Group Therapy
£55 per hour

This type of therapy can include couples, parent/child or the family as a group. This is useful for communication breakdown within a family unit and also for reconnecting with each other.

Family therapy can often be an excellent addition after one to one therapy.
